Maize DDGS

Rich in high-quality protein, energy, and essential nutrients, maize DDGS offers excellent feed value, especially for ruminants.

One of its most valuable byproducts—Corn DDGS (Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles)—has emerged as a powerful, sustainable animal feed option. Rich in high-quality protein, energy, and essential nutrients, maize DDGS offers excellent feed value, especially for ruminants. Its high rumen-degradable protein and effective fibre support healthy digestion without triggering rumen acidosis. Studies also show that DDGS positively affects milk yield and fat and protein content.

As a byproduct of ethanol production, Maize DDGS is obtained after fermenting corn starch with yeast, then distilling and drying the resulting residue. The result is a nutrient-dense feed ingredient that is both cost-effective and highly palatable.

Maize delivers energy mainly through fat and fiber, ensuring safe rumen function, while also serving as an excellent source of easily digestible protein and organic phosphorus. By repurposing agri-food by-products like DDGS, animal nutrition can be optimised sustainably—without compromising on essential nutrients.
